New Show at the Copeland Gallery Minden August 12

You are invited to the next art exhibit at the Carson Valley Arts Council’s Copeland Gallery featuring the work of three local artists, Lee Lewis, Mary Ann Crosby and Marilyn Elligott. The show starts Monday, August 12. 

An artist’s reception will be held on Friday, August 16, 5 pm to 7 pm. Refreshments will be served and it is free to the public. Come and meet the three artists and preview their amazing work.

Lee Lewis – Lee Lewis will be showing originals and prints in silk painting. Lee has been creating all of her life. Lee owns Heartstrings Gallery, a local artisan gallery, where her artwork can be seen year round, and she gives silk painting classes at Heartstrings gallery located inside the Copeland Cultural Arts Center.

Marilyn Elligott – Marilyn has been involved with different types of fibers for 50 years. She taught weaving and spinning at two colleges, one in California, the other in Minden. She is the founder of Jobs Peak Fiber Group in Minden.

She is still pursuing the technique of Navajo style weaving and still continues the tradition of using a spinning wheel for yarns for weaving on many different types of looms, knitting, crocheting, tapestry, locker hooking, and candle-wicking projects.

Mary Ann Crosby – Mary Ann Crosby will be displaying some of her ceramic creations. Mary Ann has been pouring ceramic molds, painting and firing ceramics since she was 12 years old. Her current studio is in the Copeland Building.

Mary Ann pours the ceramic molds herself, semi-firing them in the kilns in her studio to make the bisque. Finished products will be for sale during the show. She also sells her work through Heartstrings Gallery. Mary Ann also teaches classes in ceramics.
