The Buckeye Blake "NEVADA" Calendar
The featured artist at our annual Nevada Day Show was Buckeye Blake.

Buckeye's many works include the 1989 life-size bronze Kit Carson between the State Capitol and Legislative Building. He established his career as an artist in Carson City and in Silver City where his work first came to wide attention. Blake was one of four self-proclaimed journalists who revived The Gold Hill NEWS in 1974, and his art exemplified the antic take on the 19th century that was the paper's hallmark. From local fame he has emerged as a major Western artist. His exuberant paintings and sculpture are now exhibited in public and private collections in 17 states and Canada.

He left Nevada for Montana many years ago. He now resides in Idaho and brought 20 new paintings, posters and bronzes to display. The centerpiece at the show was the 4'x5' oil painting of three mustangs titled East of Ely. This is the image he selected for his first Nevada calendar. Signed copies of the calendar are now available at the Gallery.
We have an extensive collection of historic photographs of Native Americans, Lake Tahoe and Nevada.
